Chris Starbird grew up on his grandmother's ranch in the hills above San Francisco. It was there that his fascination for the outdoors grew to the level that propelled him through biological studies and graduate school. Sea turtles became his focus and he claims that he has spent more midnight hours on tropical beaches where turtles nest then anyone. These long sleepless nights with reptiles gave him an appreciation for human companionship. |
Chris has worked
as a high school teacher and has lead trips for the National Outdoor
Leadership School (NOLS) in Southeast Alaska. He also directed a
high schools outdoor education program that took over 150 kids on
trips ranging from Florida to Alaska. Chris holds national certifications
from the American Canoe and Kayak Association, the American Mountain
Guide Association and the Wilderness Medicine Institute.

Amy Davis loves to share her passion and experience of the outdoors. She has been working as a naturalist, interpreter and guide for nearly 10 years. As a naturalist in South Carolina, she led nature tours and participated in continuous studies with migrating waterfowl, cavity nesting birds and sea turtles, along with animal rehabilitation. Her talents for teaching include kayaking, canoeing, nature walks, birding and geology. |
| Amy's love of water has taken her from one side of the country to the other and allowed her to work in many different oceans, lakes and rivers. The lure of expedition paddling and amazing marine life led her to be a kayak guide along the cayes of the barrier reef of Belize. Amy's most recent experience includes being an outdoor educator for school groups throughout California and leading adventure travel trips for teens in the northern Rockies. Because safety is a priority with Amy, she maintains certifications as a lifeguard, Wilderness First Responder and Kayak Instructor. |
