Continental Airlines (800-231-0856) has direct flights from Housotn . If you have time to spend extra days in Loreto, we highly recommend it. Below is the current flight schedule for February-April 2007, which may be subject to change. ALASKA AIRLINES (800-252-7522) DELTA AIRLINES (800-241-4141) Departing: Flight #4223 leaves LAX at 11:10 AM and arrives in Loreto at 2:00 PM. Round-trip airfares begin at $523 for flights in winter/spring '07. Returning: Flight #4224 leaves Loreto at 3:40 PM and arrives in LAX at 4:35 PM. Travel to Los Angeles: Try Southwest Airlines: www.southwest.com. With a 14-day advance purchase, you can get fares from the SF Bay area as low as $39 each way. Again, there are a limited number of seats at each fare, so book early! CONTINENTAL AIRLINES (800-231-0856) now offers non-stop flights from Houston to Loreto on Thursdays and Sundays. Please contact Continental at above number or go to www.continental.com Car: The roads are decent though narrow. The scenery is varied and interesting. To drive in Baja, you will need Mexican auto insurance, which can be purchased through Discover Baja Travel Club at 800.727.BAJA (800-727-2252), www.discoverbaja.com, or at the border. If you plan on driving and would like more information, feel free to call us at 415.669.2600. Bus: Express buses from Tijuana have been recommended by some past participants as an economical alternative to flying. With several daily departures from Tijuana, the bus arrives in Loreto approximately 16 hours later. For current schedules and fares, call Autobus ABC @ (011) 52 664 621 2424. Tourist Visa: During your stay in Baja you must have a Mexican Tourist Visa with you at all times and relinquish it at the airport when you leave the country. The airline provides a tourist visa application for you while in flight to Baja. For issurance of a tourist visa, you must have current identification (both a current driver's license and birth certificate) or a current passport. Passport: As of February 2007, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has stipulated that travelers must have a valid passport to re-enter the United States from Mexico. Driving Directions from Loreto to El Santuario Eco-Retreat To Get from Loreto to El Santuario requires a taxi or rental car. Cost of a taxi depends on the number of people in your party and can be obtained at the airport or in the town of Loreto. Rental cars can be arranged at the airport or in Loreto at Budget Car Rental (for information go to http://en.budget.com.mx) Driving directions from Loreto: El Santuario is located about 25 miles south of Loreto. You will pass the communities of Nopolo, Juncalito and Puerto Escondido/Tripui (all on your left). About 6 miles past the Puerto Escondido turnoff you will come to the Mini-Super Ligui tienda (store) on your left at about mile marker 86. Shortly after the tienda turn left onto a dirt road. There will be a primary school on your left. Go "straight" for about a mile until you come to an intersection - bear right. You will dip into an arroyo (wash). Go straight for about 1/2 mile into the small pueblo of Ensenada Blanca, drive through town and at the other end you will see the Ensenada (Bay). Stay to your right and pass through the gated entrance. In about 1/2 mile there will be fork with a small sign sign that says "Playa" straight ahead and a sign for El Santuario on your left. Take the left fork in and and park in the parking area. Leave your things and walk on the path to find us to transport your belongs to your casita.
